SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 21

Requesting the Joint Committee on Government and Finance to make a study of a resolution urging Congress to require the veterans administration to serve dependents of all veterans on a space available basis in its hospitals.

Whereas, Many veterans are not able to afford necessary health insurance that will furnish sufficient health care for their families; and
Whereas, Many veterans' family members needlessly suffer curable or easily controlled medical conditions because of their lack of access to proper health care; and
Whereas, Veterans administration hospitals may be the only place where many of these individuals can receive the sufficient health care they need; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance is hereby requested to review, examine and study the feasibility of a resolution urging Congress to require the veterans administration hospitals to provide medical care for dependents of veterans on a space available basis and to make recommendations to the Legislature regarding the same; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance report to the regular session of the Legislature, 1994,on its findings, conclusions and recommendations, together with drafts of any legislation necessary to effectuate its recommendations; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the expenses necessary to conduct this study, to prepare a report and to draft necessary legislation be paid from legislative appropriations to the Joint Committee on Government and Finance.
